Republican Union of Trade Unions of Workers in Agriculture, Ecology, and Water Management

In 1906, a trade union organization uniting 230 members from the food production sector was established in Baku.

On March 10, 2025, the official merger of the Trade Unions of Agricultural Workers, Water Management Workers, and Employees of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Republic of Azerbaijan with the Trade Union of Workers in Agriculture and the Food Industry of Azerbaijan was approved. Following the merger, the organization was renamed the Republican Union of Trade Unions of Workers in Agriculture, Ecology, and Water Management.

The Republican Union is the legal successor to the Trade Union of Workers in Agriculture and the Food Industry of Azerbaijan, the Union of Trade Unions of Agricultural Workers, the Republican Committee of the Trade Union of Water Management Workers, and the Republican Committee of the Trade Union of Natural Resources and Ecology Workers.

The Union brings together employees from both the public and private sectors working in agriculture, irrigation and water management, ecology, the food industry, tobacco production, tea growing, winemaking, and related sectors.

The Union encompasses 349 member organizations, including 34 city and district committees, and has a membership of approximately 55,000 people.

The highest governing body of the sectoral trade union is the Congress, which convenes once every five years.

Between congresses, the Union is governed by the Council, which elects the Executive Committee responsible for managing day-to-day activities and implementing the statutory functions of the organization.

The Union is a member of the International Union of Workers in Tobacco, Agriculture, and Allied Sectors.

The Union maintains close partnerships with counterpart trade unions in Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, and Uzbekistan.
