How to create a trade union?

Employees, pensioners, and students have the right to voluntarily form a trade union of at least 7 people in order to protect their labor, social, and economic rights and legitimate interests, and to unite in the relevant trade union organization and adopt its charter.

Who can become a member of a trade union?

Employees, pensioners, and students have the right to join trade unions in order to protect their legitimate interests, labor, social, and economic rights, voluntarily, without prior permission.

Who cannot join trade unions?

According to Article 3 of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On Trade Unions”, persons in military service in the Republic of Azerbaijan are not allowed to join trade unions.

What is meant by labor protection in the workplace?

Labor protection is understood as a system of norms and standards of technical safety, sanitation, hygiene measures provided for in the Labor Code and other regulatory legal acts, as well as collective agreements, agreements, and labor contracts, in order to ensure the right of employees to work in safe and healthy conditions. It is the employer's duty to create healthy and safe working conditions for employees at the workplace. When implementing this duty, the existing regulatory legal acts in the field of labor protection should be taken into account.
 

What are the responsibilities of occupational health and safety employees?

  • To study, master, and comply with occupational safety, hygiene, and fire protection requirements stipulated in relevant occupational health and safety regulations;

  • To perform job duties in a manner that does not endanger oneself or other employees, and not to work on equipment, machinery, or other explosive or life-threatening sources without proper authorization;

  • To work using the provided special clothing and footwear, and to use personal and collective protective equipment предусмотрed in technological processes, occupational safety standards, rules, and instructions;

  • To immediately inform the employer’s representatives of any violations of occupational health and safety rules, as well as any accidents or incidents that have occurred;

  • To regularly improve knowledge of occupational health and safety standards and rules;

  • To comply with the instructions, advice, and recommendations of the employer, direct supervisor, and specialists regarding occupational health and safety matters.

What is the role of trade unions in labor protection at the workplace?

Trade unions exercise public control over the norms and rules of labor protection established by the Labor Code and other regulatory legal acts in this area at the workplace. Trade unions participate in the investigation of accidents in production, as well as in inspections aimed at improving labor protection. In case of violation of labor protection requirements at the workplace, or concealment of accidents that occurred in production, trade unions may raise issues with state bodies to hold the guilty parties accountable, as well as with the body exercising state control over workplaces where materials, technical and technological means that are harmful to and affect the health of employees are used.
 

Why should an introductory instruction on labor protection be prepared?

An introductory instruction is an instruction program that reflects safety rules at the workplace. The employer is obliged to prepare an introductory instruction on labor protection in accordance with working conditions. Employees, regardless of their position, must familiarize themselves with the introductory instruction program prepared by the employer before starting work and sign a journal confirming their familiarization with this instruction.
 

How should an induction training program be prepared?

Information on safety and health rules at workplaces, safe use of equipment, fire safety, rules of conduct in emergencies, rules for the use of personal protective equipment, and sanitation and hygiene rules at the workplace should be detailed in the induction training program. Occupational safety instructions should be prepared in accordance with the activities of workplaces.

What are the basic conditions for worker safety in the production area?

The most basic conditions for the safety of workers in the production sector:

Putting the life and health of workers ahead of the results of the enterprise's production activities;

Implementing independent and effective control over the implementation of labor protection requirements;

Providing workers with special clothing and footwear, other personal protective equipment, and medical and preventive food free of charge;

Mandatory investigation, recording, and analysis of each accident that occurred in production, and on this basis providing employees with honest information about the state of industrial injuries, damages, and occupational diseases;

Regular improvement of labor protection standards;

Social, material, and moral protection of the interests of workers who have suffered from industrial accidents or contracted occupational diseases.

How to get sanatorium-resort referrals?

Applications for travel to sanatoriums and recreation centers are accepted through the “e-ahik.az” Sanatorium-Resort Electronic Reservation System. The system was created to ensure accessibility, transparency and efficiency in the process of issuing travel permits. After the application is accepted in real time through this electronic system, the data is processed and the applicant is responded to. If a positive response is given, a partial cost of the travel permit is paid through the payment link in the personal account and the electronic travel permit is sent to the applicant’s email address. Then, the applicant approaches the sanatorium or recreation center on the specified date with the electronic travel permit and ID card.

Who can apply for a sanatorium-resort trip?

Trade union members, insured persons and labor pensioners can apply for a trip

What is the Duration of Recreation and Treatment in the Resorts and Sanatoriums?

The maximum stay at recreation centers is 7 days and 6 nights. The sanatoriums of the Azerbaijan Confederation of Trade Unions offer treatment packages for either 7 or 14 days.

How Many Times per Year Can One Benefit from a Subsidized Voucher?

Applications for vouchers are submitted through the “e-ahik.az”, Electronic Reservation System. Each trade union member may benefit from a subsidized voucher only once per calendar year. If a voucher is used by a family member, this case is also considered as utilization of the subsidized voucher.

It should be noted that in order to enable the maximum number of our members to benefit from this opportunity and to make use of the subsidies, the principle of rotation is applied.

How is the payment for a voucher calculated?

If the applicant wishes to attend a recreational facility together with their family, the payment for the voucher amounts to 15% of the total sum calculated for the family.

If an applicant and their spouse, both of whom are trade union members, attend a sanatorium, they are required to pay only 15% of the total cost.

If the spouse is not a trade union member, the applicant pays 15%, while the spouse pays 50% of the total amount.

 

 

 

Why Am I Unable to Proceed to the Next Page During Application on e-ahik.az?

When applying through the “e-ahik.az”, Electronic Reservation System, access to the next page is only possible after all required fields are completed in full. We kindly ask you to make sure that all information has been accurately entered before proceeding.

Why are recreation centers not visible in the system when applying for a trip?

The integration of recreation and medical centers owned by the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation, as well as those cooperating with the Confederation, into the “e-ahik.az” system has been ensured. Information on available vacant rooms is entered directly into the system by the hotels. If information about the sanatorium or recreation center selected by a citizen for the desired dates is not displayed in the system, this indicates that there are no available vacancies at that facility on those dates.

Even though the hotel says there is no room, when you call the hotel they say there is plenty of room. How is this possible?

Private sanatoriums and recreation centers allocate only a limited number of rooms within the framework of cooperation with the Confederation. The remaining rooms are intended for direct sale by the hotel. If the system shows that there are no available rooms at a hotel, this means that the rooms allocated for trade unions at that facility have already been fully booked. However, this does not mean that the hotel is completely full overall, as there may still be rooms available for direct sale by the hotel.
It should be noted that the real-time registration and integration process of recreation and medical centers owned by the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation, as well as those cooperating with it, into the “e-ahik.az” system has been fully ensured.

Can students join trade unions?

According to Article 1 of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On Trade Unions”, students may voluntarily join or become members of trade unions on the basis of individual membership at the workplace, professions, areas and at the republican level in order to protect their labor, social, economic rights and legitimate interests.

How to handle hazardous and dangerous substances?

Always read the safety instructions provided on the label of the chemical substance you are using. Make use of appropriate personal protective equipment – gloves, masks, protective clothing, and safety goggles. Ensure that the area in which you are working is properly ventilated. Do not mix the substances you are using, as chemical explosions may occur as a result of such mixtures.

What is the AHIK+ platform and who is it intended for?

The AHIK+ platform is a digital application created and launched for members of trade union organizations. Only members of trade unions can benefit from the AHIK+ application. The platform enables members to take advantage of discounts offered by social partner companies.

How can discounts offered on the AHIK+ platform be used?

Trade union members can register on the AHIK+ platform, review discounts offered by social partner companies with extensive service networks, and select the desired service. The discount is activated through a QR code generated automatically by the platform and becomes valid only after the QR code is scanned at the relevant social partner company.

How is data security ensured?

All data collected on the AHIK+ platform regarding members and social partner companies is protected in accordance with the “Requirements for the Protection of Personal Data” approved by Resolution No. 161 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated September 6, 2010.

How can social partner companies join the AHIK+ platform?

Social partner companies must register on the AHIK+ platform and add their services, service networks, branches, and the discounts they offer. After registration, reaching an agreement with AHIK, and formalizing this agreement, they are considered official participants of the program.

Are there any limits on payments or discounts?

Discounts are applied only to goods or services specified in the contract concluded with social partner companies. Discounts cannot be requested for goods or services not included in the contract.

How are discount rates determined?

Discount rates are determined based on contracts concluded with social partner companies and may vary depending on the type of goods, services, and company branches.

How long can a QR code be used after activation?

The QR code must be used within 30 seconds after activation. If it is not used within this period, the user must reactivate the QR code.

Can a QR code be shared with another person?

The QR code is linked to the personal account of the trade union member on the AHIK+ platform and is intended solely for use by that registered member.

Can the AHIK+ program be used multiple times in one day?

Trade union members can use the AHIK+ program an unlimited number of times per day.

Are discounts valid only in physical stores or also for online shopping?

The AHIK+ program is not intended for use in online shopping.

How can someone benefit from the AHIK+ program if they are not a trade union member?

Only trade union members can benefit from the AHIK+ program. To use the program, you must join a trade union organization at your workplace or educational institution.
