The prospects for cooperation between AHIK and the ILO were discussed

A meeting was held at the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation (AHIK) with Mikhail Pushkin, Director of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Regional Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

During the meeting, detailed information was provided on the improvement of labor legislation in Azerbaijan, regulation of labor relations, digitization and innovative approaches in work processes, as well as measures aimed at further developing a competitive labor market.

The existing cooperation between the AHIK and the ILO was also discussed, including joint projects implemented in the areas of labor rights and protection, and ensuring decent working conditions.

It was noted that the “Country Programme on Decent Work for 2025–2029” signed between Azerbaijan and the ILO last year serves to enhance social partnership, improve workers’ welfare, and strengthen the resilience of the labor market.

The ILO representative was informed about reforms in the Azerbaijani trade union system in the field of labor rights, social projects implemented, and digital solutions applied.

Mikhail Pushkin, Director of the ILO Regional Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, highly appreciated the social policies implemented in Azerbaijan and the reforms carried out within the trade union system, emphasizing the importance of the “Country Programme on Decent Work for 2025–2029.” The ILO official also stressed the importance of organizing joint activities and projects to implement the programme.

The meeting also covered prospects for further cooperation and included a mutual exchange of views.
