Representatives of AHIK Participated in Public Hearings on Tourism Development Prospects at the Milli Majlis (Parliament)

The Milli Majlis Committee on Labour and Social Policy held public hearings on the topic "Current State and Prospects for Tourism Development in Azerbaijan.

The event was attended by deputies from the Milli Majlis Committees on Labour and Social Policy, Health and Culture, representatives of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation (AHIK), the State Tourism Agency, the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Azerbaijan Tour Guides Association, the Azerbaijan Association for Support of Health and Thermal Tourism, the Closed Joint Stock Company “Kurort", and the "Luna Travel" company.

At the hearings, the Chairman of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation, Sahib Mammadov spoke about the dynamic development of tourism in Azerbaijan and emphasized the attention and care that the country’s leadership dedicates to this sector.

The Chairman noted that the country’s abundant natural resources, climatic diversity, therapeutic waters, historical and cultural heritage, and traditions of hospitality create a favorable basis for the expansion of tourism, particularly health tourism.

In addition, information was provided on institutional reforms implemented within the Confederation in recent years, improvements in governance, modernization of infrastructure in accordance with contemporary requirements, and enhancement of service quality.

Participants were shown a video of the Confederation’s health and recreation facilities and treatment procedures. It was highlighted during the hearings that the State programs approved by President Ilham Aliyev, the implementation of extensive infrastructure projects, the establishment of modern tourism facilities in the regions, and Azerbaijan’s successful hosting of prominent international events have made significant contributions to the development of the tourism sector.

Speakers at the hearings addressed the state policy on tourism development and measures taken to facilitate travel to the country, and offered proposals regarding the future prospects of tourism development.
