As part of the nationwide celebrations marking the Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty, the SOCAR-2025 mini-football tournament has officially kicked off, bringing together employees from oil, gas, and chemical industry enterprises. The event is organized by the Republican Committee of the Oil and Gas Industry Workers’ Trade Union - a member organization of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation.
The opening ceremony was marked by speeches celebrating the country’s commitment to promoting sports and the remarkable achievements of Azerbaijani athletes. Speakers also underlined the role of trade unions in organizing members’ leisure activities and creating more opportunities for recreation.
Following the official opening, the tournament matches began. A total of 29 teams are competing in 7 groups, with matches taking place every Saturday and Sunday at the covered pitches of the Baku Olympic Stadium.
The final match is scheduled for September 21.
