An event dedicated to March 1 – World Civil Defence Day was held at the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation (AHİK) under the theme “Management of Environmental Risks for a Sustainable and Stable Future.”
During the event, AHİK Deputy Chairman and Head of the Confederation’s Civil Defence Headquarters, Gazanfər Abdullayev, highlighted the importance of strengthening civil defence awareness and educational initiatives. He emphasized the need to enhance preparedness for emergency situations and ensure effective environmental risk management, noting that climate change, technological hazards, and broader environmental challenges create new responsibilities for modern society.
Adil Rahimli, Head of AHİK’s Labour and Health Protection Department, delivered a presentation focusing on workplace safety regulations and effective risk assessment mechanisms. He underscored the vital role and responsibilities of trade unions in safeguarding occupational health and safety.
Participants also received detailed information on environmental hazards, emergency preparedness measures, collective protection equipment, and safe workplace behavior practices. The event concluded with an interactive discussion session, where attendees’ questions were addressed comprehensively.
