An event was held between Azerbaijan and the International Labor Organization (ILO) to mark the signing of the new “Country Programme on Decent Work for 2025-2029”.
The event was attended by Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Anar Aliyev, Chairman of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan Sahib Mammadov, President of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mammad Musayev, Director of the ILO Decent Work Technical Support Group and Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia Mikhail Pushkin, and ILO National Coordinator in Azerbaijan Yashar Hamzayev.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Azerbaijan Trade Union Confederation, Sahib Mammadov, emphasized that as a result of the socio-economic reforms implemented under the leadership of our Head of State, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, significant results have been achieved in recent years in our country in terms of modernization of the labor market, strengthening of the social protection system and increasing employment opportunities. The “Country Program for Decent Work for 2025–2029” will serve as a logical continuation of this policy and will serve the development of social partnership, improvement of workers’ welfare and stability of the labor market in the coming years.
The Chairman of the AHIC noted that through the program, trade unions aim to strengthen the protection of labor rights, the creation of safe and decent working conditions, gender equality and support for youth employment. AHIC intends to further improve its activities in these areas through this program and make a real contribution to the development of labor relations.
Then, Anar Aliyev, Sahib Mammadov, Mammad Musayev and Mikhail Pushkin signed the “Country Program for Decent Work for 2025–2029”. The main goal of the program is to further develop social and labor relations in our country to ensure decent work through increased efforts in areas such as increasing employment, social protection, labor protection, the application of international labor standards in the field of labor, and social dialogue. In addition, the document aims to further increase the opportunities for continuing and expanding effective cooperation between Azerbaijan and the ILO.
