Academy of Labour and Social Relations Hosts Event on  “Trade Unions and Youth”

The Academy of Labour and Social Relations, with the support of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation (AHIK), hosted an awareness-raising event on "Trade Unions and Youth."

The event aimed to increase young people’s awareness of labour rights, improve their knowledge of trade union activities, and encourage greater youth engagement in this field.

The event started with the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

In his remarks, Farid Babayev, Acting Rector of the Academy, highlighted the important role of trade unions in protecting youth labour rights in the modern era. He also spoke about the activities carried out by the Academy to promote more active participation of young people in the labour market.

Gulnara Huseynova, Deputy Head of the Youth, Social Projects and Gender Issues Department of AHIK, provided detailed information on the Confederation’s main activity areas, the projects implemented for young people, and the strategic approaches applied in this field.

Turana Karimova, Deputy Chairperson of the Trade Union of Science and Education Workers, an AHIK member organization, spoke about the initiatives implemented by the organization to support the comprehensive development of youth, strengthen their social protection, and enhance their professional skills.

Ulviyya Akhundova, Head of the Youth Affairs Department at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, informed participants about the priority areas of the state youth policy. She emphasized that ensuring the active participation of young people in public life and safeguarding their rights remain key objectives of state policy.

In his speech, Vugar Aliyev, the Chairman of the Azerbaijan Volunteer Organizations Union, noted that the volunteer movement has become an important platform for the professional and personal development of young people. He also highly appreciated the “AHIK Volunteers” programme, which operates as part of a broad and reputable volunteer network.

Sabina Babayeva, Sector Head at the Ministry of Science and Education, spoke about the role of education and relevant state programmes in preparing young people for the labour market and highlighted the importance of the initiatives implemented in this area.
One of the notable highlights of the event was the presentation of the “AHIK +” programme, developed for trade union members and designed to provide various benefits and opportunities in everyday life.

Matanat Musayeva, Sector Head at the AHIK Department of Information Technologies and Digital Management, delivered a detailed presentation on the functions, advantages and use of the digital platform.

The event concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session and productive discussions with the active participation of young attendees.
