The Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation organized an event at the Academy of Labour and Social Relations on the theme “Ways to Address Climate Change: International Cooperation and Scientific Communication.”
Within the framework of the event, the presentation of a special scientific publication titled “Global Sustainable Development Strategy: Innovation, Modeling, and Unions”, prepared with the support of the Confederation, was held. In addition, the Center for Support to the Provision of Sustainable Identifiers was inaugurated at the Academy, and the winners of the photo contest “Green Future Through Our Eyes”, initiated by the Confederation, were awarded.
The event was attended by government representatives, members of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly), prominent scholars, and the academic staff of the Academy of Labour and Social Relations.
The Chairman of the Confederation, Mr. Sahib Mammadov, delivered a speech highlighting Azerbaijan’s policies in combating climate change and the global significance of the decisions adopted within the framework of COP29, hosted by the country.
It was emphasized that the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation also implements measures aimed at combating climate change and protecting the environment, and that the preparation of this special scientific publication is a continuation of those efforts.
The scientific value and relevance of the articles included in the publication, as well as their role in shaping the objectives of COP29, were underlined. It was noted that the publication serves as a reliable reference source for scientific research on climate change, for the development of readers’ scientific potential, and for further studies in the relevant field.
The importance of the newly established Center for Support to the Provision of Sustainable Identifiers was also highlighted in terms of improving the quality of scientific publications in Azerbaijan and expanding digital identification systems.
Speakers at the event — President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, academician Isa Habibbayli; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yalchin Rafiyev; Member of Parliament, academician Ziyad Samadzade; Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Umayra Taghiyeva; and Chairman of the Board of the Center for Social Research and Member of Parliament Zahid Oruc — emphasized the significance of the special scientific publication in raising public awareness about climate change and expressed confidence that it would attract interest among a broad readership. They also discussed the importance of the newly established Center for Support to the Provision of Sustainable Identifiers for ensuring that national scientific journals and publications are equipped with sustainable identifiers.
As part of the event, several publications were assigned Digital Object Identifier (DOI) codes by the Center for Support to the Provision of Sustainable Identifiers.
In conclusion, the winners of the “Green Future Through Our Eyes” photo contest were awarded.
