A Meeting Held Between the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation and the ILO Representative

A meeting was held at the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation (AHİK) with Mr. Mikhail Pouchkin, Director of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

During the meeting, the parties highlighted the productive cooperation between AHIK and the ILO, the joint projects implemented in the fields of occupational safety and the creation of decent working conditions, and noted that Azerbaijan has ratified 59 ILO conventions related to workers’ rights.

The ILO representative was provided with comprehensive information on the reforms carried out within the Azerbaijani trade union system to strengthen the protection of labour rights, enhance occupational safety, and improve health and recreational services for union members. It was also emphasized that AHİK’s Centre for Occupational Safety and Legal Assistance provides union members with free support regarding their labour rights.

Mr. Mikhail Pouchkin, Director of the ILO Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, highly praised the reforms carried out within the Azerbaijan trade union system and stressed the importance of the innovative measures being implemented for the benefit of union members.

He also shared his views on expanding cooperation in promoting decent work and supporting the transition to a “green economy.”

Following the meeting, the ILO representative became acquainted with the activities and functions of AHIK’s Centre for Occupational Safety and Legal Assistance.
