“250 Students Received the ‘Trade Union Scholarship’”

The Republican Committee of the Trade Union of Workers of Science and Education, a member organization of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation, awarded the ‘Trade Union Scholarship’ to 250 students.

The event brought together the leadership of the Confederation, heads of its member and affiliated organizations, rectors of several higher education institutions, chairpersons of student trade union committees, and students.

The ceremony opened with the performance of the State Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, followed by a moment of silence to honor of the memory of national leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs who gave their lives for the country.

During his speech, Deputy Chairman of the Confederation Musa Mirzaev highlighted that the state youth policy, established by Heydar Aliyev, has created broad opportunities for nurturing young people in the spirit of national and moral values, obtaining quality education, and becoming active members of society. He also emphasized that under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, consistent measures are being implemented to develop the potential of youth, train highly qualified specialists, and expand their participation in social and political life. First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva received special recognition for her contributions to youth development, as well as for expanding opportunities for young people in education, culture, and sports through projects supported by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

The speech also outlined the systematic initiatives carried out by the Confederation to strengthen social protection for youth, safeguard labor rights, and furthered develop their potential. The “Trade Union Scholarship” program, targeting students with high academic achievements and active involvement in trade union activities, was highlighted as one of the most successful initiatives in this regard.  

The program fosters a healthy competitive environment among students and encourages them to achieve higher academic and personal goals. Deputy Minister of Science and Education Kenan Kerimzade spoke about ongoing educational reforms, emphasizing that the modern education system enhances the knowledge, skills, and creative potential of youth. He also noted that the “Trade Union Scholarship” plays an important role in motivating students to excel. Shahmar Rafili, Chairperson of the Student Trade Union Committee at the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and

Construction, shared insights into student engagement in trade union activities. He also discussed initiatives for organizing productive leisure and recreational opportunities for students.

The event concluded with the awarding of the “Trade Union Scholarship” to 250 students. These students achieved academic results in the summer examination session of the 2024–2025 academic year and actively participated in trade union activities, in recognition of their achievements and dedication.
