Republican Union of Workers of the Electric Power and Municipal Enterprises Trade Union

The trade union of electrical workers was first established in 1917 in Baku. Later, in 1931, the Republican Committee of the Trade Union of Workers of Power Plants and the Electrical Industry of Azerbaijan was formally created. At the 16th Conference held on January 30, 2003, a revised Charter was adopted, and the organization was renamed the Trade Union of Workers of the Electric Power and Electrotechnical Industry of Azerbaijan.

Subsequently, at the Congress held on April 15, 2025, a second revised Charter was approved, officially establishing the Republican Union of Workers of the Electric Power and Municipal Enterprises Trade Union. Through this transition, the Union expanded its mandate to include the protection of labor rights and the improvement of the material and social well-being of workers employed in the electric power, electrotechnical, public utilities, domestic services, and housing sectors.

The Conference serves as the Union’s supreme governing body, responsible for defining the strategic directions of its sectoral activities.

The Union encompasses:

the Unified Trade Union Committee of the Baku City Executive Authority’s Department of Landscaping,

“Azerishiq” OJSC,

“Azerenerji” OJSC,
as well as 196 primary trade union committees.
The total membership of the Union stands at 28,240 individuals.

The Republican Union of Workers of the Electric Power and Municipal Enterprises Trade Union is a member of both the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation and the International Trade Union Association “Electroprofsoyuz.”
